Siemens Simatic S5 es un sistema de programación y control para tareas de automatización industrial. Fue desarrollado por Siemens y se utiliza en muchas plantas de producción de todo el mundo. La serie de controladores S5 consta de varios modelos, como el S5-90U, el S5-95U y el S5-100U.
Los controladores S5 se programan en Step 5, que es un lenguaje de programación basado en texto. Step 5 permite a los usuarios crear programas que permiten controlar máquinas y procesos. La programación se realiza en un entorno de desarrollo integrado (IDE) que permite crear, editar y probar los programas.
Los controladores S5 están conectados a componentes de hardware especiales, como CPU, tarjetas de entrada y salida digitales, tarjetas de entrada y salida analógicas y módulos de memoria. Estos componentes de hardware permiten la adquisición de señales procedentes de sensores y el control de actuadores tales como accionamientos de motor, válvulas e interruptores.
Los controladores S5 son conocidos por su fiabilidad y robustez y son muy adecuados para entornos industriales exigentes. Se utilizan ampliamente en las industrias automovilística, alimentaria, química y farmacéutica para automatizar y controlar los procesos de producción.
