Siemens Simatic S5 is a programming and control system for industrial automation tasks. It was developed by Siemens and is used in many production plants worldwide. The S5 controller series consists of various models, including the S5-90U, S5-95U and S5-100U.
S5 controllers are programmed in Step 5, which is a text-based programming language. Step 5 allows users to create programs that enable the control of machines and processes. Programming is done in an integrated development environment (IDE) that allows programs to be created, edited, and tested.
S5 controllers are connected to special hardware components such as CPUs, digital input and output cards, analog input and output cards, and memory modules.
