Siemens Simatic S5 is a programming and control system for industrial automation tasks. It was developed by Siemens and is used in many production plants worldwide. The S5 controller series consists of various models, including the S5-90U, S5-95U and S5-100U.
S5 controllers are programmed in Step 5, which is a text-based programming language. Step 5 allows users to create programs that enable the control of machines and processes. Programming is done in an integrated development environment (IDE) that allows programs to be created, edited, and tested.
S5 controllers are connected to special hardware components such as CPUs, digital input and output cards, analog input and output cards, and memory modules. These hardware components enable the acquisition of signals from sensors and the control of actuators such as motor drives, valves and switches.
S5 controllers are known for their reliability and robustness and are well suited for demanding industrial environments. They are widely used in the automotive, food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries to automate and control production processes.
